Here is the break down of all the beautiful features of the magnificent castle:
The interior measurements of the castle is over 12,900 square feet (1200 square meters) and the caretaker’s house is about 2476 square feet (230 square meters) with a garage and barn with chicken coop. The back of the park land include fenced off goats to maintain the woods.
The property size is over 6 acres (10,120 square meters) of great park land that circles the castle in elegance. Even with 2 wells on the property, the castle is luxuriously equipped with city water and power. Owner wanted to build a helicopter pad with rails to the storage warehouse on this big piece of property with also the intent of building a swimming pool, tennis court, and a pool house. This property is situated so all these additions could be done without them being visible from the castle. With the airport 10 minutes away from the Marcilloles Castle a helicopter pad would be delightful.
This sale also includes a buildable lot across the street from the castle. This lot is about a half acre (1900 square meters) and very buildable with views.
This great updated historicle castle was built in 1760 by the Vivier-Merle family. Industrialist from Lyon.
Then an extension of the Castle was built in 1860.
During World War II the castle served as the German’s head quarters.
Castle Features include 21 rooms with a basement, laundry room, boiler, three cellars, a wine cellar, reception room and a romantic out side dining area withstairs going out to the park land. The beautiful tile in the lower level leading out to wine cellar, the granite stone flooring on main floor, etc.. dates you back to the originality of the luxurious style dating back 250 years ago. The wine cellar is an exhilarating room with plenty of racks for wine storage.
As you make the adventure up the stone spiraling staircase, the feeling of finally reaching the top comes to your understanding that you are in the tall castle tower. This tower brings you to all rooms through all the different levels it reaches.
Views from every room stand out as you walk on the all oak flooring of the upstairs section of this Castle.
The first floor (ground level) gives you the greatness feeling when you soak in all the eye candy. From the granite stone floors to the 12 foot ceiling (4 meters) to the 12 foot Lobby width and the 75 foot long you feel like royalty.
The rooms presented on the first floor are the kitchen, one large living room, one large dining room with huge 9 feet wood dining table, another huge living room with great accented decor, a bath room and the fully glazed orangery room(winter garden room to bring in the plants for winter time so plants/trees don’t catch frost bite).
Both of the two living rooms and the dining room have enormous fire places. The huge one in the living room is a made out of stone and the other is a large fantastic wood carved. The living room has a marbled and great designer carved wood fire place and is laced with historical three dimensional wood diamond flooring made by a great 18th century furniture artist named Jean Francois HACHE.
These alone are worth a sixth of the castle value. With the fireplace, flooring, carved ceiling trim, and murals the old money luxury is felt.
The second floor is equipped with the large master bedroom, the master bath (in front tower), a great walk in closet and a big outside patio balcony which overlooks the beautiful property, two bed rooms with bathrooms, a lounge, one room used as a paint shop, another as a gym, a large office, Monumental Staircase made of oak and gilded worked walnut, with a black wrought iron railing, and the spiraling stone stair case tower on the other side of the castle.
With all the upgrades and modifications that have been worked on the this magnificent castle you feel the wealth of the occupants. The intense remodeling work includes stripping the entire front of the castle, the restoration of all the rooms ceilings, floors and walls, all the electrical through out the castle, re-doing 3 bathrooms and creating one, revision of the plumbing, work in the cellars, planning and landscaping the park land, placing all zinc gutters, grading all of the castles entrance area, laying asphalt for gate entrance, grading out side for storm waters, creating an updated complete kitchen on the first floor, creating the laundry room down stairs, installing stone flooring on the master bedroom patio, rehabilitated all HHT, clean the couple inches of debris and dirt off the floors, all the roofing, and installing lighting inside/outside of the castle. All this cost over 900,000 euros and 7 years of intense management and labor.
Aslo included is a treasure of war weapons and possibly greater valued items buried in the park land that has never been recovered. This is due to the French laws that states “if the treasure is uncovered it is needed to tell the country and be roped off for visits by the public”.

Hi Nathan.
It is a great looking Castle. I would rather keep it and live in it for a few month each year.
Good luck selling it.
Have a great day,
Louis
